Brit finds confidence and security in career switch

James Cowe changed his life by embarking on a bold journey.

The Brit left the health care industry for adult entertainment. Drawing upon stunning looks, a fit physique and a gregarious personality, he started an OnlyFans account.

James, 26, of doesn’t regret the decision as the move created financial security.

“It’s been very exciting,” he said. “It’s been wild from start to finish.”

James said he doesn’t try to fit a specific interest.

“I kind of gave up looking for a niche,” he said. “I’ve prioritized focusing on being myself and creating content that makes me happy. This way, it feels so much more enjoyable.”

James said possessing a distinct personality is beneficial.

“Every creator is so different and that’s what I love about being on the platform,” he said. “I think it’s important because we’re living in a world of AI where you can literally clone people, so being able to share deeper than the images and videos I create has been a main focus for a while now.”

James said the key to his job is to not let the content become repetitive.

“Stay fresh as possible,” he said. “Keep people engaged.”

James didn’t always have the confidence to wear sexy attire.

“I was a very insecure kid,” he said. “I like to push myself out of my comfort zone and I’ve found it comes a lot more natural now. But at the beginning when I started OnlyFans, I had no idea how to take a decent picture or what my style should be. It’s been a massive learning curve and still is. I enjoy the thrill of trying new stuff.”

James often posts creative shots and videos, such as sitting framed in a window or at a scenic outdoor locale, on his private content and social media.

“I enjoy being creative and love photography, but have very much done trial and error and learning as I go,” he said.

James didn’t originally have the sexual confidence he has now.

“I was always private in the bedroom and in exclusive relationships,” he said. “OnlyFans gave me an outlet to explore and find my confidence in a way my ex-partners never could.”

Jame stressed there are no limitations on who can be in adult entertainment.

“You can be any shape or size or age,” he said. “It’s more about content.”

James defended the right to market to consenting adults.

James left the health care industry.

“I don’t force my content on anyone,” he said. “It’s their choice I feel.”

James has benefited financially from switching careers.

“I used to make $12,000 a year and now I’m earning between $160,000 and $200,000 a year,” he said.

OnlyFans retains 20 percent of all revenue.

After James worked as a nurse’s aide in health care for six years, he felt unappreciated due to a lack of adequate compensation and working conditions.

“I got so depressed there,” he said. “I got so depressed there every day.”

After James opted to to leave his job three years ago, he began contemplating his options. James considered his strong social media following.

“I thought how can I monetize the audience,” he said. “I was building social media up.”

Unsurprisingly, people frequently complimented James on his looks.

“They would say you should be a model,” he said.

James decided to join the most famous platform for adult content.

“I thought it’s something I could do,” he said. “I’m going to give it a go.”

After half of a year passed, James knew he could make a living from OnlyFans and left health care.

“Six months in, I know I can leave now,” he recalled thinking.

 His story caught the attention of British media. Despite some of the interviewers not being respectful, James confidently discussed his journey.

“When you do a job like OnlyFans, there is no reason to hold back,” he said. “I’m doing my job and they’re doing theirs. I try to not take it too personally and shine light on it.”

James may get into marketing some day.

“It’s something that I’ll always hold as an option, but for now I’m enjoying what I’m doing and putting all my energy into growing as a creator,” he said.

James said his work isn’t for everyone, but is there for those who think they may enjoy it.

“If you want to try, you just have to go for it,” he said. “You need to be really sure.”
